Weekly Bulletin – 30th June

SUNDAY SERVICES
This Sunday we have our 9am and 10:30am services. The 10:30 will be live-streamed and the children will be going out their different activities. Straight after the service there will be a Church Meeting (12noon) see the note below.

Next week at the church there will be no 9am, only the 10:30am. There will also be the Campsite service at Delf Farm, 10:30am for all ages.

TEAM MINISTER PROGRESS
We had a positive time with Chris, the potential new Team Minister over the weekend. The deacons and Search Team have met to discuss and have agreed to invite Chris back for a second visit. Chris has accepted the invitation.

He will visit us on Sunday 16th July and be involved in both the 9am and 10.30am services.  There will be opportunities to informally meet Chris and his family on the Sunday afternoon and on Monday 17th July.  The Deacons will then meet to discuss bringing a recommendation to the church meeting (Wednesday 19th July).

This Sunday, 2nd July, there will be a church meeting after the 10.30am service, where we can bring you more information about Chris and the process we have been going through.

Here are the key dates:
Sunday 2nd July – Short Church Meeting with more information about Chris around 12noon
Sunday 16th July Morning – Visit by Chris, involvement in both services.
Sunday 16th July Afternoon – BBQ and drop-in, probably at Roy and Gill’s, to meet Chris.
Sunday 16th July – (The planned Church meeting is no longer happening)
Monday 17th July – Other opportunities to meet Chris on site (Details T.B.C.).
Monday 17th July – Deacons meet to discuss a proposal

GAP IN THE MARKET
Are looking for people interested in volunteering for the shop for a few hours, either regularly or on an ad hoc basis. There are currently a few people off sick or looking after poorly relatives and with summer coming up, a few away on holidays.  They need people for the following: Serving customers, filling up shelves, sorting donations, keeping shop clean and tidy, delivering/collecting items as required. Anyone interested can ask Julia, Liz or Gail for details.

CEREAL BOX TOKENS
If you eat cereals at home, can we please collect the tokens from your cereal boxes? We are hoping to do another Chessington trip in the summer holidays and Kellogg’s often have free ticket tokens on their boxes.

PRAYER FOR PASTOR ABRAHAM
Abraham is the pastor of New Life Baptist Church in Soroti and Coordinator for Global Challenge.
His already heavy workload is increasing. He has had several funerals for both the church family and his extended family in the last month. His son, Abraham Junior, and wife Irene, are not well Over several emails and messages in the past week, he has written….

I’ve just got news of another death. Keep us in prayer. The ministry workload is much. Most people are desperate, poor and sickly. As mentioned earlier, we are headed out to another funeral in Serere. Had another one yesterday. Could have another one soon as one of our relatives is seriously ailing with an advanced stage of cancer … pray with us! Have been busy planning ministry. Pray with me. The radio preaching has opened another door of opportunity to minister in the Soroti government prison. I will be preaching to the prisoners every last Sunday of each month. Besides we are also to disciple converts every Friday. Quite a lot of work but we trust God for help. I will have other leaders helping.

And after the first time of ministry there, Abraham says…

We had a great time in the prison – praising, worshipping and preaching God’s word to 900 male inmates. Humbled and can’t forget six of them who came and knelt on the ground in tears to receive forgiveness and salvation. Ituritete Edike……Amina!
