Beyond Sunday services the church is a bustling hive of activity with midweek activities and opportunities engaging the church family and local community alike and on average the church can easily see 1000+ people come through the doors each week.
Mission Focus Group
As a church we are committed to mission both locally and globally. Much of the financial support the church can give is headed up by a church-based team called Mission Focus. During the year Mission Focus meet together to administer the mission budget – normally 10% of the church’s overall budget – as well as organise visits from Mission Groups that we are able to support. As well as supporting the church’s partner missions – The Gap Project (local) and Global Challenge (Global) each year the church supports a number of mission groups.
Our community outreach programme is very much underpinned by the long standing GAP Project, which has operated from the church for many years.
A registered charity, GAP is supported by a team of 120 volunteers managing the café and groups/activities which run within this inclusive and welcoming environment providing a safe place for people to access the support and resources they need to build their self esteem, make informed decisions and improve their quality of life. GAP has become a vital safety net for people to access in times of need – with access to advice, support, friendship and a hot meal in times of crisis.
For more information, visit The Gap Project website.
The project enables people to reach their potential, whether it be within education, relationships or employment. Expansion into the community is at the heart of GAP and in recent years has launched its own charity shop ‘Gap in the Market’ on the Broadstairs High Street, and was also pivotal to the opening of the Thanet Winter Shelter.
Global Outreach is also at the heart of QRBC and affords the church the opportunity to support both physically and financially a schools programme in Uganda through Global Challenge, the support of vulnerable children in Zambia and Rwanda through Bethany Children’s Trust and ongoing support through BMS, Tear Fund, African Pastors Fellowship and Home Mission. Closer to home the church is involved with local schools, Scripture Union and Churches Together.
